Job Description:
Kolkata Port Trust , inviting application for the post of Law Officer
Qualification : The candidate should be a practicing Advocate with at least 2 years practice
preferably in property related matter. Familiarity with computer (MS Word) is
Desirable: The candidate should have passed LLB Examination with minimum 50% marks.
Age Limit: The age of the candidate should not exceed 40 years as on 1.2.2011.
Note : The office of the selected candidate will normally be at Estate Dept, of Kolkata Port Trust, at 15, Strand Road, Kolkata-700 001. However, the candidate may be required to work at any place within the jurisdiction of the Kolkata Port Trust.

Kolkata is the oldest major port in the country. But the nucleus of the present day Kolkata Port lies much earlier - with the grant of trading rights to the British Settlement in Eastern India by the Moghal Emperor Aurangzeb. The city of Kolkata, has a synergistic linkage with the port.
In course of time the power to rule this vast country passed from the East India Company to the British Crown. The affairs of the Port were brought under the administrative control of the Government with the appoinment of a Port Commission in 1870.
