Staff Selection Commission (SSC) was established in 1977 under resolution number 46/1/(S)/74-Estt. (B) dated 4th November, 1975. The mandate of the Commission is to conduct examinations. It makes recruitment in Group ‘C’ & Group ‘B’ Non-gazatted posts in Ministries and Departments of Govt. of India. The Commission has its Headquarters in New Delhi. There are Nine (9) Regional Offices / Sub-Regional Offices of the Commission to assist in the conduct of examinations. The Eastern Regional office of the commission is located in Kolkata and has territorial jurisdiction over West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, Sikkim and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

How to apply: The eligible candidates have to apply either online or offline.
Online Application Form: Candidates have to apply through online from the www.ssconline.nic.in website on or before 21/06/2011 for the part 1 Registration and 24/06/2011 for the part 2 Registration up to 5.00 PM. The filling of online application contains two parts that means part 1 Registration and part 2 Registration, candidate will have to fill basic information in the part 1 Registration, candidates should press I Agree button after declaration. After that Registration No. will appear on the screen, note down the registration number or take out a print out of the page, part 2 registration contains filling of payment details, uploading of photograph and scanned signature.
Offline Application Form: Candidates can also apply through offline in prescribed format given in the advertisement, together with attested photo copies of all required essentials and enclosures, to the respective address on or before 24/06/2011, (For remote areas 01/07/2011).
